How to Stay Healthy travelling with Kids

What is the longest trip you have taken with your kids? In Australia, we know a few things about long flights. Most international flights are going to take at least 1/2 the day! If you aren't entirely dehydrated and exhausted after a long day, the last thing you want to be is sick; this will leave you wishing you never left home!

5 Tips to Stay Healthy on your Next Holiday:

Vitamin C

Travel with vitamin C. Whether a chewable vitamin C (check sugar content), fresh fruits, or a June Superfoods tropical sport; the more vitamin C you can get in your kids the better. Stress and the new germs and environments can take their toll on your immunes system. Take Vitamin C as your insurance that everyone will stay healthy.

Sugar

Don’t overdo it on sugar. Sugar brings down the immune system, and it seems to be in every type of food on or near an airport or train station. Be prepared for it and pack your snacks; nuts, fresh fruit, hummus with veggies, wraps, or sandwiches.

Extra Time

Take your time, give yourself plenty of time on travel days as travelling with kids can always take longer than expected. The stress of making a flight, a reservation or anything that revolves around a schedule can quickly deplete energy levels and lead to sickness. We look forward to a coffee after getting through security. Once you put your laptop away and shoes back on it's time to relax with a coffee at your favourite airport cafe!

Upgrade

If you can budget this you will be happy! $100 can go a long way especially if you get the larger car, the better seats, the cab to the airport rather than the train or bus. Once you have kids paying a little extra can make all the difference in a successful holiday.

Hydrate

This one can be difficult in transit. It seems that water is a novelty item on a plane, as those bottles don't last long. Prepare by bringing a reusable water bottle that you can fill up before you get on your flight. There are some incredible travel filters new to the market, so wherever you are you can save on plastic and fill up your bottle. Make sure to get some electrolytes as well. Coconut water or a bit of lemon and sea salt works well. Of course, our favourite is June Superfoods Tropical sport as it is full of electrolytes as well as vitamin C.

Staying healthy while travelling is imperative for a successful holiday. Let's face it travelling with kids can be stressful, and after successfully getting to your destination you want to enjoy your time with a healthy, relaxed and happy family.
