Defined simply Superfoods are Nutrient Dense foods. These are fruits, vegetables and grains that have more absorbable nutrients per serving than other foods. For example, an acai berry has ten times more antioxidants than grapes. Plus it has added omegas for brain health.

 

The ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) scale measures the antioxidant levels in foods. Foods higher on the ORAC scale are considered superfoods. Acai berries, for example, have the highest ORAC reading of any other food. 

 

Listed below are the top 5 superfoods that are easy to access in an organic whole food form from most markets.

Spirulina

Easy to find in most health foods stores and some supermarkets, choose certified organic when possible. This superfood is grown in space stations for its tremendous amount of nutrients per serving. High in protein with a number of essential vitamins and minerals, it is a highly recommended nutrient for everyone's diet.

Spinach

Kale

Chia Seeds
